The timeline they gave was faulty and lackluster at best, and they seemed more interested in putting together an clever sounding story, rather than making the series a coherent whole. Not that that's a bad thing, and at first sight it looks promising enough. But there is just so many details they overlooked, and a lot of story elements not accounted for.
And so I decided to do the research myself. Looking into everything from character quotes, to comparing locations. From the music to the monsters, temples and the hero himself.

Friday, 16:30. Great Sea Fishing & Bait Shop, Windfall Island.
A cool, Summer breeze kissed the lazily lapping waves at the shores of Windfall Island’s West Beach. The afternoon sun glistened in the water like a million rupees as it broke out from what little clouds remained in the sky. The end of a busy week. Well, as busy as a sleepy fishing and market village can get. It was a very different life to the one I’d left behind ten years ago. A life that had taken a lot of time to get used to, but one I was happy in. It was approaching closing time and the last of the day’s customers had returned their equipment. Figured I’d close up early.
The bell above the entrance jingled as I locked up the staff room. There’s always a latecomer. I called out:
“Sorry, we’re closing now. You’ll have to come back in the…”
